Just driving down the road toward Tampa.
We have had much to do to prepare the RV for our departure. We have found much of it locally, but we weren't having any luck at all finding a comforter for our bed in the back. So we went to find a Bed Bath and Beyond. The closest, we found out, was in Brandon which is south of Tampa by a few miles. So being the adventure seekers we are, we took off having no clue where we were going. A long time and a road nap for the kids later, we found the place.
After spending more money than we intended to at the store, we found a great little restaurant called Bucas (pronounced Boo-kas). They have great Italian food that they served family style to us - in style. See, here we are in favored seating in the actual kitchen booth. It is a booth set up in the kitchen where you receive extra attention and can chat with the chef as he prepares your meal. The kids loved getting to stand by and watch, ask questions, and play with pizza dough like it was play-doh.
After the much shorter drive back to Auburndale, we all decided to sack out in the RV. The kids slept in it night before last, and we now had a comforter and no excuses not to join them. It turned out to be quite comfortable. The only complaint came from Zach who could not bear to sleep in the same bed with Alex and opted instead for the floor. See the picture for details...
Today, Steph spent the day in the RV getting it packed with our own things, sorting out what the previous owners left, and all in all making it our new home. There are yet a couple of things we need, but not much and nothing that will put us out much money. John spent the day working on the outside of the RV, making certain it is road worthy and power washing it to clean it up. He even power washed the Jeep!
So, tomorrow we are off to watch the space shuttle launch. We'll drop the RV off at Camping World in Kissimmee on the way to get the canopy replaced. Then we'll be beach bums till the launch and grab the RV on the way back to Auburndale. We'll probably hit the road toward Birmingham on Thursday.
Visiting our Florida family has been great. Robby and Karen have been more than hospitable and we'll love coming again for another visit, hopefully in less than 2 years this time! Can't say enough for all Robby and Karen have done, but if they read this, I hope they'll know how overwhelmed we have been by their grace and care for us. A BIG thank you to them!
We'll post some pics of the launch when we can- depends on when we get back tomorrow evening!
